Topics

Ukraine's starting position as the war enters the third year since Russia launched a full-scale invasion is difficult, but not hopeless. However, to prevent the war from turning into a protracted and long-term confrontation and to enable a Ukrainian victory, the West must provide Ukraine with more strategic resources and high-precision weapons. This will allow Ukraine to cut off Russian supplies, especially via Crimea, and break out of the artillery war that has so far been almost unwinnable for Ukraine. But as international support crumbles, Ukraine is in danger of losing the war, which could lead to a negotiated peace at any cost and renewed territorial losses—and all the consequences that entails.
